Today is the death anniversary of India's Best Singer ever. Yes the best. The only singer who could reach to his level was kishor kumar.

He is not alive today physically. But I still feel his presence whenever I listen to his songs. thats why I have not used the word late for him. He is alive in my heart & lakhs of his fans.

I would like to share some information about The Great singer with you guys.

Rafi learnt classical music from Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan.

One day there was show of K.L. Saigal. Both Mohammed Rafi & His brother in law went to attend the show. Suddenly there was power failure & K.L. Saigal sab refused to sing. Mohammed Rafi's brother in law grabbed the chance & asked the organisers if Mohammed Rafi could sing . Organisers agreed because they needed something to keep audience quiet. This was Mohammed Rafi's first public performance at a age of 13 years.

Mohammed Rafi appeared on the screen for the song "Tera Jalwa Jis Ne Dekha" in the film Laila Majnu.

Rafi sang one song "Suno Suno Aye Duniya Walon Bapuji Ki Amar Kahani" i one movie. He was invited by the Indian Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, to sing same song at Nehru's house.

"O duniya ke rakhwale and Man tarpat Hari darshan ko aaj" established Rafi's credentials in Indian Cinema.

Rafi refrained from smoking and drinking.

Verymuch impressed by Rafi , Composer O P Nayyar sab got Rafi to sing for Kishor Kumar in the movie Raagini. Yes. One singer sang for another singer-actor. Kishor Kumar was on screen but voice was of Mohammed Rafi.

He Received 2 National Awards for songs "Babul Ki Duaen Leti Ja from the film Neel Kamal " & "Kya hua tera wada" . Rafi won the Filmfare award 6 times. He received Padma Sri Award In 1965.

When one composer, Nisar Bazmi did not have enough money to pay him, Mohammed Rafi charged only one rupee for songs he sang for that composer.

There is one Padma Shri Mohammed Rafi Chowk in Mumbai named after him.

On July 31, 1980 , after composing one song with Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Mohammed Rafi said "chalo mein chalta hu" .Laxmikant-Pyarelal were surprised by this. Because Mohammed Rafi saab was the last person to leave studio always. & that day He said Chalo Mein Chalta hu .

& Our own Mohammeed Rafi died at 10.50 p.m. on the same day due to a massive heart attack. & He proved his words.
