Sri Lankan Cricket Team in Ahmedabad for first Test match

The Sri Lankan cricket team and some members of the India team arrived in ahmedabad for the first Test starting November 16 at the Sardar Patel stadium here.

According to Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) sources the Indian team members including Sachin Tendulkar would be arriving separately and are likely to have a training session in the afternoon at Sardar Patel stadium, Motera.

Eleven venues have been shortlisted for the forthcoming IPL Twenty20 tournament, which could be held between April 10 and May 29 2009. Barabati Stadium, Cuttack and Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad are the new names that were added to the list of IPL venues this year.

A spendthrift Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) spent £200 million on sponsorship deals with Sachin Tendulkar and other top sportsmen just weeks before being bailed out by the British government, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The Sunday Times said the bank, which is now 68 per cent owned by the taxpayer, signed the long-term contracts before being bailed by the British government in October.
